Sheriff's in Bowman, Slope counties issue no-travel advisory; southwest ND under travel alert
The sheriff's offices in both Bowman and Slope counties have issued a no-travel advisory due to blowing and drifting snow creating icy conditions and reduced visibility.
A spokesperson for the North Dakota Department of Transportation said the sheriff's offices in the Bowman and Slope counties initially called for the advisory. Typically, weather advisories come from the NDDOT and the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The NDDOT has issued a travel alert for southwest and south central North Dakota, including Dickinson, Bismarck and the surrounding areas due to blowing and drifting snow creating icy conditions and reduced visibility.
Conditions are such that motorists can still travel but are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.
