Montana man drowns in Lake Sakakawea

MANDAREE -- A Montana man is presumed drowned in Lake Sakakawea after he fell out of a boat and crews unsuccessfully searched for him over the weekend, an official said.

Authorities received a report about 9:20 a.m. Saturday that a man who was fishing in the Skunk Bay area fell out of his boat, said Brian Updike, Watford City district game warden with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. Crews used boats, dive teams and airplanes to search for the man throughout the weekend, Updike said.

The man is from Montana and was fishing with another man and a 12-year-old girl, Updike said. Authorities have not released his name.
