Purdon said in an interview that it’s a great way to highlight priority issues for his office, including Indian country crime and increased organized drug trafficking in the Bakken.

“This position will allow me to make sure the top levels of leadership in the Department of Justice are really aware of the challenges that we’re facing in North Dakota,” he said.

The Attorney General’s Advisory Committee represents the voice of U.S. attorneys and provides advice to Holder on policy, management and operation issues impacting their offices, according to a press release.

“Each of the U.S. Attorneys who serves on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee plays an indispensable role in guiding the Justice Department’s work as we confront a range of challenging issues and opportunities,” Holder said in the release.
