Sanford, Essentia doctors in ND begin offering online E-visits

FARGO—North Dakotans can now request an e-visit with a Sanford or Essentia Health doctor.

E-visits are available 24/7 for current Sanford Health patients by engaging a provider through an e-visit for a variety of acute care needs including, but not limited to, pink eye, diarrhea, rashes, bladder infections, cold/cough and sinus infection.

During an e-visit, patients simply log on to My Sanford Chart, select the e-visit option and complete a brief questionnaire. Patients can expect a response in two to four hours, which may include a treatment plan, a prescription or a request to see the patient in person. E-visits are available for $40.

Sanford Health patients in Minnesota and South Dakota previously had access to e-visits.

Essentia Health has also launched its online diagnosis and treatment service in communities they serve in North Dakota, it announced this week. The health system said patients can use their smartphones, tablets or computers to access the service.

Essentia patients, said Jamie Zink, physician assistant at Essentia Health West Fargo, can get care for more than 20 common health conditions, including cold and flu, pinkeye, bladder infections and minor skin conditions. An Essentia physician or advanced practitioner will review the information collected and respond with a diagnosis and treatment plan within an hour — 24 hours a day.

If medication is appropriate, prescriptions will be sent to the patient's preferred pharmacy for pick-up. Essentia e-visit is available to anyone in North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin for a set fee of $30 payable by credit, debit or health savings card.
