'Bag,Baubles, Bubbly,' Fundraiser set for RSVP program

RSVP specialist Kailein VanDyke displays an Anne Klein bag with accessories that will be auctioned at the Bags, Baubles, Bubbly fundraiser.

The newly reorganized RSVP program in Dickinson is sponsoring a “Bags Baubles Bubbly” fundraiser -- an evening with a sit-down dinner, auctions and champagne toast.

“We need people to come for the event, to bid on all the wonderful donated items at the silent and live auctions,” said Mary Siverson, RSVP Western North Dakota coordinator. “It’s a ladies night out with a chance to win a diamond necklace. It’s a great meal and time with friends.”

The social event is  Friday, Sept. 21, at the Lady J’s, 20 East Broadway in Dickinson. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.

The dinner features chicken veronique with garden rice pilaf, glazed sliced carrots, iceberg/cucumber salad with raspberry vinegarette, assorted homemade breads and butter and assorted dessert bars..

The auctions will feature bags, jewelry and other gifts donated by local sponsors.

“We have about four name-brand purses, and Western Edge Aviation is donating an hour of flight time for the auction,” Siverson said.

Tickets are $35 each, which includes the drawing for a diamond necklace donated by Riddle’s Jewelry. The centerpieces were donated by Gaffaney Floral. The social event also is an opportunity to support the Great Plains Food Bank -- a non-perishable food item to be entered into a special drawing.

“We want to emphasize that the money raised in Dickinson stays in Dickinson for the different programming needs we have,” Siverson said.

‘Bags, Baubles and bubbly’ was the brainchild of Chelsea Mann, when she worked as a VISTA volunteer for RSVP several years ago.

RSVP is a program that recruits volunteers aged 55 and older for meaningful community service. Kailein VanDyke is the RSVP specialist for the Dickinson region.

RSVP was recently reorganized under its new sponsor -- Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota. RSVP’s focus areas include the food pantry, home delivered meals and food drives.

The office is located at 117 First St. E. It currently has an enrollment of 50 volunteers in the greater Dickinson area, but there’s always room for more, VanDyke said.

Ticket holders must be age 21 or older to attend. Tickets are available from the RSVP office (701-258-6815) or Riddle’s Jewelry at Prairie Hills Mall.
