Alan R. Qualley

Alan Ross Qualley, 62, of Owatonna, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at Homestead Hospice House.

He was born May 6, 1955 in Dickinson, North Dakota the son of Kenneth and Irene (Harris) Qualley. Alan graduated from Dickinson High School. He received an Associate Degree in Graphic Arts from Wahpeton School of Science. He then worked in the natural gas industry in Dickinson, ND. Al attended the school of Ophthalmic Medical Technology in St. Paul and became a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist. He moved to Owatonna where he worked at the Owatonna Clinic Ophthalmology Department from 1995-1998. Alan married Bonnie (Kruckeberg) Lips on February 6, 1999 in Owatonna. The couple moved to Fort Myers, FL where Alan worked as a laser engineer for Sightpath Medical. In 2008, they moved back to Minnesota and Al continued his work as a laser engineer.

Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, golf, traveling and watching sports. He also enjoyed home improvement projects and spending time with his family and dogs. Al will be remembered for his ability to socialize and to see the humor in all situations.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Qualley of Owatonna; daughters, Angie (and David) Iserman of Owatonna, Renee (and Tyler) Lips-Bush of Owatonna; grandchildren, Emmy Iserman, Elle Iserman, Rory Bush; brothers, Ron (and Judy) Qualley of Pipestone, Gerry (and Connie) Qualley of Parker, CO; sister, Luann (and Ken) Hill of Stratford, NJ; God daughter, Leighton Ward of Dickinson, ND and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held in the spring or summer of 2018. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, Homestead Hospice House or Homestead Hospice Patient Care Fund.
