She attended the Prairie Rose country school. In 1939, due to the depression, the family moved to her grandfather, Henry Tormaschyi's homestead, south of Lefor.

Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Donna and Sandy. Together, the family ran a dairy operation and raised grain. Education was important to Eleanor, and in 1979, at age 52, she earned her GED. Eleanor and Joseph retired to Dickinson in 1987. They were members of the Eagles Club, German-Hungarian Club, and Queen of Peace parish. Joseph passed away on May 21, 2014.

Eleanor enjoyed gardening and became active in Farmer's Market. She also enjoyed music, dancing, crocheting, embroidery, taking care of her grandchildren and having coffee at McDonald's. She will be remembered for baking something different every day and always preparing extra food just-in-case' someone would drop in to visit and join them. Eleanor will be forever loved and missed.
