Brock: You can play a role in shaping area business

You don't have to look very far to notice how rapidly our area is growing. Seemingly everywhere you look a new building or business is going up.

Still many local and potential businesses are flying in the dark when it comes to what goods and services are needed in our ever changing community. There are as many rumors about potential business as there are businesses that folks want to open in Dickinson.

The Dickinson Press has contracted with Pulse Research, an independent research firm, to do a survey to help us and area businesses determine the direction of buying habits in the Dickinson area.

We need your help.

Your purchasing plans for the next 12 months can have a huge impact on the strategies that your local and potential businesses implement for their customers -- that's YOU!

Your opinion is very important and can make a difference in shaping the shopping options for the future.

To ensure the best data possible is obtained, you must be at least 18 years old to respond to this survey, and you must be a resident of Stark, Adams, Billings, Bowman, Dunn, Golden Valley, Hettinger or Slope counties. Your local businesses appreciate your business and want to serve you better. The survey results will give them a valuable tool to do that.

Here's how it works: go to and please take some time to tell Pulse Research a little about your shopping plans. Don't worry, your replies will be aggregated with hundreds of responses and therefore totally confidential.

The survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

In appreciation, you will be entered to win Chamber Bucks from the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce in the amounts of $200 (grand prize), $100 (first prize) and $50 (second prize). These drawings are sponsored by The Dickinson Press.

For official rules and regulations, click on the "Rules" link at the bottom of the Pulse Research page.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this local survey. If you have any questions, call me at 701-456-1201.
