Stroh cashes in, finishes 5th in 9th round
LAS VEGAS -- After seven pennyless rounds at the National Finals Rodeo, Dickinson saddle bronc rider Shaun Stroh finally to put some cash in his pocket Friday night.
Despite a face-first dismount, Stroh finished fifth in the ninth round with an 81.5-point ride on Pretty Boy to win $4,519.23. It brings his earnings at the NFR to $14,969.95.
Stroh had a third-place ride with an 86 in the first round, but hadn't scored a money ride since. The win moved Stroh to seventh in the average and 10th in the world standings. Through nine rounds, he has eight rides.
Going into today's championship round, Wade Sundell has a 1.5-point lead on Cody Wright in the average standings, but Wright is leads by less than $2,000 in the chase for the world title.
