Richardton's Dalton Rixen wins saddle bronc riding performance at NHSFR

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. -- Dalton Rixen has put himself in position to reach the short round of the National High School Finals Rodeo.

The Richardton cowboy won the Tuesday morning performance with a 71-point ride, putting him second in the overall first-round standings after the performance. Tuesday evening's saddle bronc performance was not finished when The Press was published.

Utah's Rusty Wright leads the rodeo with an 82. Wright is the son of world champion bronc rider Cody Wright.

Mandan's Logan Berg was third in Tuesday morning's bareback riding performance with a 64. It put him 14th in the first-round standings.

Lexus Kelsch, the state barrel racing champion who resides in McLaughlin, S.D., was third in the Tuesday night performance at 17.73 seconds.
