Victim, suspects named in Bowman motel homicide

ND's Ty Breuer moves to No. 1 in world bareback riding standings

Ty Breuer is off to the best start of his professional rodeo career.

The bareback rider from Mandan moved into the No. 1 spot in the PRCA world standings for the first time in his career after picking up a $12,336 paycheck on Sunday after winning the National Western Stock Show Rodeo in Denver.

"This is the biggest win of my career and it's great to win Denver for the first time," Breuer said in a press release.

Breuer won the first round and the average. He totaled a 246 on three head at the rodeo, which spanned 11 days and concluded Sunday.

He tied Jet Price for the win in the first round with an 83-point ride on Kesler Rodeos' Seat Sale, tied for second in the second round with another 83 and scored an 80 in the finals on Sunday.

"After my ride I didn't know if I was good enough for 80 points and I was nervous," Breuer said. "I've actually been nervous since last night. It was a good kind of nervous that makes you do better and I think it helped me concentrate on what I needed to do to win."

Breuer has $15,901 in earnings so far this season.
