Blankenship remains in 1st place
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. -- Another day of competition, and Riley Blankenship is still on top.
After Wednesday's performances at the National High School Finals Rodeo, Blankenship kept his spot in first place due to his 79-point ride in his first round on Tuesday. The Killdeer cowboy still has one more round to compete to increase his average.
Leah Voigt out of Beulah is in 23rd after Wednesday's pole bending rounds. She ended her run in 20.542 on Tuesday. Though she is outside the top 20, she remains less than a second behind the event leader.
Kit Miller from Bowman is only 1.27 seconds behind the leader in goat tying, although she is 21st. The Bowman cowgirl clocked in with 8.58 seconds.
Boyd Stroh out of Dickinson is still in the top 20 after Wednesday for his first round. The cowboy scored a 44 in saddle bronc on Tuesday.
Team roping partners Ryder Bohlman and Layton Bohlman are also in the top 20 after Wednesday. Richardton's duo recorded a time of 9.79 on Tuesday.
Watford City's Sam Jorgenson is 8th overall in breakaway roping after two rounds.
Jorgenson clocked out her second round in 3.28 seconds, which gave her an overall average time of 7.43.
