Riders handle Elkhorn, advance to title game

FARGO — The Dickinson Roughriders American Legion baseball team started the seventh inning with a two-run advantage over Elkhorn, Neb.

After the top of the seventh inning, the Roughriders scored six runs to run away with a 10-2 win over Elkhorn to close out pool play during the Joe Parmer Red River Diamond Classic on Saturday.

Dickinson finished pool play with a 3-0 record.

Cole Anderson, who was coming off throwing a near no-hitter against Glendive, Mont., on June 8, tossed a complete game for the Roughriders (9-2). He allowed two runs on three hits. At the plate, he went 1 for 4 with two RBI.

The Roughriders play the Bismarck Governors in the title game at 3:30 p.m. today.
