DHS girls basketball clinches close victory

WILLISTON — Powered by junior Gabby Jung’s 19 points, the Dickinson High girls basketball team narrowly defeated Williston 59-57 on Tuesday, Jan. 2 in Williston.

Senior McKenna Weiler and sophomore Peyton Selle contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.

After being down 31-26 at the half, the Midgets (3-4, 3-3 West Region) netted 33 points in the final frame for the win. The Coyotes (2-5, 1-5 West Region) were led by sophomore Makia Remus and junior Jaylen Helstad who scored 20 and 16 points, respectively.

The Midgets and Coyotes both committed 17 fouls and the Midgets shot 15-of-25 from the foul line while the Coyotes went 8-of-16.
