Midgets complete sweep of Coyotes

WILLISTON — Following its female counterpart outdoing Williston with a 59-57 win, the Dickinson High boys basketball team won by an even closer margin over the Coyotes, 49-48 on Tuesday, Jan. 2 from Williston.

Williston led 20-17 at half, but a strong push from the Midgets gave them an 8-point advantage 13 minutes into the second half. Led by William Brown’s 13 points, the Coyotes battled, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Senior Connor Hoenke led the Midgets (3-4, 3-3 West Region) with 13 points, followed by junior Martin Lopez who netted 11 and senior Krew Mathern who scored nine.

The Midgets turned the ball over 11 times, half as many as Williston’s 22. The teams shot similarly from the charity stripe, though, with Dickinson going 7-for-12 and Williston shooting 9-for-15.
