Carroll College sweeps Blue Hawks

HELENA, Mont. — New coach, new players and new outlook. It was evident this season for the Dickinson State volleyball team was going to be a rebuilding year. But what wasn’t expected was the Blue Hawks collapsing in its last two games of the regular season.

Saturday night, the team lost to Carroll College 25-19, 25-12, 25-14 and lost at Montana State-Northern 25-19, 25-14, 25-8 Thursday night.

Senior outside hitter Melissa Avila recorded the most kills for the Blue Hawks with 10, followed by freshman Aly Schieno with eight and freshman Maggie Rauser added six. The team committed 24 hitting errors compared to the Saints’ eight.

DSU finished its regular season 4-26, tying the amount of wins from last season. Thursday is the beginning the Frontier Conference Tournament in Great Falls, Mont.
