DSU opens 2014 football schedule with Rocky

With the official end of college football on Monday, the Dickinson State University athletics department announced the schedule for the 2014 football season Thursday morning.

The 2014 season marks the transition for the Blue Hawks from the Frontier Conference to the North Star Athletic Association with a new head coach at the helm.

Pete Stanton takes over as DSU’s head coach as Hank Biesiot — who was the head coach of the Blue Hawks for the last 38 seasons — stepped down. The Blue Hawks spent their past two seasons in the Frontier and had a combined 1-19 record in conference play.

DSU’s first game of the season will be against Frontier rival Rocky Mountain College at 1 p.m. on Aug. 30 at the Biesiot Activities Center. The team will begin NSAA conference play on Oct. 18 at Valley City State University and finished the regular season at the University of Jamestown on Nov. 15.
