Dickinson State men’s basketball signs Gondrezick

Justin Wetzel was announced as Dickinson State’s newest mens basketball head coach less than two weeks ago, but he is already busy putting together his team.

Wetzel announced Jacob Gondrezick as his first player to sign a letter of intent Monday to play for the Blue Hawks next season. The 6-foot point guard, originally from Salt Lake City, is transferring from Fort Lewis College (Colo.).

“He is the type of young man who will help build the winning culture we are focused on establishing here at DSU,” Wetzel said in a press release. “Jacob was recruited heavily by a couple NCAA Division II schools closer to his home, so it truly speaks volumes of Dickinson State and the community as a whole for Jacob to commit to our program.”

Gondrezick played basketball and baseball at Judge Memorial Catholic High School where he was named a region most valuable player, second team all-state and was a first team all-region player. In 2011 and 2012, he helped lead Judge Memorial to two region championships.
