DHS picks up 4 state qualifiers at Minot Invitational
MINOT — The Dickinson High boys and girls track teams each picked up at least one state qualifying athlete at the Duane Carlson and Majette Invite on Thursday.
On the boys side, Carter Blackwell, Levi Jordheim and Eric Schaper each qualified, while Kelsey Calhoun was the lone athlete for the girls.
Blackwell and Schaper each finished in first place in their respected events. Blackwell won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.56 seconds and Schaper finished with a height of 12 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault.
Jordheim finished runner-up in the triple jump — to Bismarck High’s Jay Liggins with a state-qualifying 42-09 distance — 41-10.
Calhoun came in third place (113-05) in the javelin behind Mandan’s Chelsea Peterson (116-01) and Amanda Nelson from Williston (114-01).
The Midgets compete in the Mandan Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday.
