Dickinson High sweeps Mandan, reaches West semifinals

MANDAN -- The Dickinson High volleyball team took care of its first order of business at the West Region Tournament on Thursday.

Abby Grove had 14 kills and four aces as the Midgets swept Mandan 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 in a quarterfinal match at the Mandan High School gymnasium.

"It was kind of a little hot and cold," Dickinson head coach Jay Schobinger said.

But, the Midgets got the job done and put themselves one win away from qualifying for the Class A state tournament. They face Jamestown at 6 p.m. MST today in the semifinals.

"It's going to be a good volleyball match tomorrow night," Schobinger said. "We've got to find a way to win one more and we're going to do everything we can to take care of that tomorrow night."
