Beach rolls past Center-Stanton, makes playoffs

BEACH -- Whichever team came away with a win on Saturday was getting a spot in the 9-man playoffs.

The Beach football team used 28 first-half points to take a 50-20 win over Center-Stanton on Saturday.

Tyler Steffen scored three of Beach's four first half touchdowns. He finished with 110 yards on 21 carries including TD runs of 10, 1 and 3 yards.

Marshall Nunberg supplied three rushing TDs. He finished with 103 yards on 13 carries. He also passed for 17 yards on four completions.

Center-Stanton's Noah Johnson racked up two long TD runs of 75 and 77 yards. He ended the game with 170 yards on 11 carries.

The Buccaneers claimed the No. 4 seed in Region 4 and will travel to Towner-Granville-Upham in the first round of the playoffs on Oct. 26.

Heart River tops Central McLean 44-12

BELFIELD -- It was all about the run game for Heart River, as the Cougars beat Central McLean 44-12.

Heart River's Kenny Huffstutler and Cade Shypkowski each ran for more than 100 yards, picking up 207 and 115, respectively.

The Cougars have the No. 3 seed in Region 4 and will travel to the No. 2 seed from Region on Oct. 26 for the first round of the playoffs.

HETTINGER -- The Richardton-Taylor-Hebron football team used a 12-points third quarter to a 25-12 win over Hettinger-Scranton.

Lane Aune, who rushed for 114 yards on 16 carries, scored two touchdowns for the Raiders. Jaiden Schmidt added 110 yards on 13 carries and a 22-yard TD pass from Lane Voltz in the second quarter. Voltz finished 4 of 6 for 99 yards and two TDs.

For the Night Hawks, Tanner Sanford and Kye Erickson scored the team's two TDs. Sanford, who rushed for 46 yards on 14 carries, scored on a two-yard run, while Kye added 25 yards on six carries including a 11-yard TD run.

RTH has the No. 3 seed in 9-man, Region 4 and will travel to play the No. 2 seed from Region 3 on Oct. 26.

Holsteins knock off Southern McLean 22-6

NEW SALEM -- With a 16-point victory over Southern McLean, the New Salem-Almont-Glen Ullin football team clinched the fourth and final playoff spot in Class 1A, Region 4.

The Holsteins defeated Southern McLean 22-6 as Zach Cofer had a 141-yard rushing performance including a seven-yard touchdown run.

Cullen Seegar and Andrew Hulm scored NSAGU's two other TDs. Seegar scored on an eight-yard TD run in the quarter, while Hulm pulled down a 40-yard interception return in the fourth quarter.

NSAGU will play in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs against the No. 1 seed from Region 3 on Oct. 26.
