Buccaneers roll to opening win against Tigers

MOTT — The Richardton-Taylor-Hebron football team kicked off the season with a win and a dominating first-half performance against Mott-Regent.

The Raiders scored 36 first-half points en route to a 52-12 9-man, Region 4 win over the Wildfire on Tuesday.

RTH quarterback Jacob Kuntz rushed for three touchdowns, while Cory Rebel scored twice — the first on a 46-yard interception return and the second on a 46-yard run. Denver Colgrove led RTH’s rushing attack with 11 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown.

Freshman running back Josh Wallace led the Wildfire (0-1) with 19 carries for 111 yards, while sophomore quarterback Brady Wegh had 46 yards and scored a touchdown. Mott-Regent’s quarterback threw three interceptions.

The Raiders (1-0) continue their season hosting Shiloh Christian on Saturday, while the Wildfire travel to Trenton-Trinity-Christian at 2 p.m. Saturday.

BEACH — The Beach football team didn’t waste much time piling on points.

The Buccaneers scored 50 first-half points and defeated Trenton-Trinity Christian during the 9-man, Region 4 game on Tuesday.

Kirby Maus scored a total of seven touchdowns — five passing and two rushing. Maus passed for 291 yards and rushed for 79. Hunter Weinreis rushed for 169 yards on 17 carries, while Ty Farstveet supplied 15 carries for 144 yards. Troy Steele caught seven passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns.

TTC’s Brandson Bentz had a combined 368 yards and four touchdowns. Bentz connected with two different receivers for three touchdowns. Jonah Lind led the Tigers (0-1) with 11 catches for 124 yards.

The Buccaneers (1-0) continue their season hosting Hettinger-Scranton on Saturday.
