Ashworth advances to state finals in two swimming events

Following the first day of the state meet at the Bismarck Aquatic Center, the Dickinson High girls swimming and diving team had one swimmer advance to the final rounds on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Brianna Ashworth was the only Midget to place in the top 16 of her events, making her the only individual from the DHS team competing in the finals.

Ashworth earned sixth place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes and 17.22 seconds. Later, she swam the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.84, good for 10th place.

Hailey Rathgeber narrowly missed out on a spot in finals after finishing 17th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:05.56.

Charley Rathgeber swam the 50 freestyle in 26.13 seconds and finished 19th. Hannah Rathgeber finished 19th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.25 seconds.

Midget swimmers will also compete in the 200 medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard freestyle relay on Saturday.
