Class B boys poll remains unchanged, Minot Ryan girls start season at No. 1

The Class B boys basketball media poll was unchanged this week as North Star hung on to the No. 1 ranking heading into its showdown with No. 2 Beulah in Cando on Thursday night.

North Star (4-0) remained four voting points ahead of Beulah (5-0) while they received eight and four first-place votes, respectively.

Dickinson Trinity kept the No. 4 spot behind No. 3 Cavalier after winning the 42nd annual Roughrider Tournament on Saturday.

The Titans (5-0) visit Beach on Tuesday and play Heart River on Thursday night in a rematch of the Roughrider semifinal game Trinity won by just three points last Thursday.

The Trinity girls basketball team, after starting the season 2-0 and receiving votes in the first Class B girls basketball media poll, is preparing for an even bigger game this week.

The Titans face No. 1-ranked girls team Minot Bishop Ryan at 1 p.m. Saturday. Ryan is 2-0 and received all but one first-place vote in the first poll.

Beach, which received the No. 2 ranking in the Miss Hoopster magazine's preseason power poll, was not ranked after dropping its first games of the season to No. 2-ranked Napoleon (1-0) and defending state runner-up Linton-HMB (2-0).

The Buccaneers, who received votes defeated Harding County (S.D.) 79-29 on Tuesday night to improve to 1-2.
