Lions climb back, rally past Titans

BISMARCK — The Dickinson Trinity boys basketball team nearly came away with a rival win over Linton-HMB.

However, the Lions scored 19 three-quarter points en route to a 65-54 win over Trinity on Saturday during the Bismarck Civic Center Jamboree.

At halftime, the Titans held a 10-point, 33-23, lead. The lead was short lived as the Lions pulled away in the third quarter.

Willy Jahner led the Titans (4-5) with 18 points, while Joe Mayer added 10 and Cole Wilhelmi had eight. Brett Mortenson supplied seven in the loss.

Trinity had a trouble staying away from fouls. Wilhelmi, Mortenson and Austin Deichert all fouled out.

For the Lions (7-2), Andrew Small and Ryan Schneider each posted a game-high 19 points, while Jonathon Purintun had 16.

The Titans return to the hardwood to host Bowman County in a Region 7 game at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Knights of Columbus Activities Center.
