Wrzesinski breaks NSAA heptathlon record
Cleet Wrzesinski, a freshman on the Dickinson State indoor track and field team, won the heptathlon at Jamestown on Feb. 11 and 12, breaking the North Star Athletic Association record in the process. Wrzesinski won the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and 60-meter hurdles, accumulating a final score of 4,700 points, surpassing the previous record of 4,292.
Blue Hawk senior Thomas Sease set the record in the 2016 season. Sease finished second in the heptathlon with a score of 4,455. Both qualified for nationals.
On the women’s side of the competition, Blue Hawk senior Paitton Herbst placed third, winning the 800 meter race.
