CANDO, N.D. - A 18-year-old Cando man was arrested Sunday night, June 11, and is being detained on potential attempted murder charges. Towner County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Doug Howard said the man was arrested after a domestic incident about 9 p.m. Sunday in Cando. He was booked into the Lake Region Correctional Center at 10:25 p.m. Sunday, jail records show. Nobody was injured in the incident, Howard said.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- PGA Tour Champions and Sanford Health announced on Thursday, June 8, a new event is coming to Sioux Falls for the 2018 season. The Sanford Health International Presented by Cambria will be the first-ever PGA Tour Champions event in South Dakota. Minnehaha Country Club will host the Sept. 17-23 event featuring a $1.8 million purse. The PGA Tour Champions features golfers 50 or older.

FARGO — A photo snapped at a downtown eatery and shared on social media shows Jamie Grant surrounded by family and friends Saturday, May 27. Later that same night, outside the HoDo Restaurant and Lounge, Grant was punched once, fell, hit his head on pavement and suffered a traumatic brain injury. The 45-year-old husband and father of a young boy died Monday, June 5, said his father Cornelius. His organs will be donated. Grant was out celebrating graduations and reunions on May 27, according to a CaringBridge site set up in his name.
TYNDALL, S.D. — A southeast South Dakota man convicted of multiple counts of child rape was ordered Tuesday to spend 65 years in prison. Paul Brewer, 41, of Tabor, was sentenced for three counts of first-degree rape and two counts of sexual contact with a girl under the age of 16, according to the South Dakota Attorney General's Office. Brewer was convicted of the five felonies following a three-day jury trial in March.
WAGNER, S.D. — About 200 baby pheasants and other birds were killed Monday and about 500 eggs were lost when a building sustained heavy smoke damage in Wagner in southeast South Dakota.. A heat lamp is believed to be the cause of the smoldering structure, owned by Steve Krcil, in which he raised upland birds like partridge, quail and different species of pheasants. He said Tuesday he's been raising birds for three years.
GRAND FORKS -- A tire technician at a Grand Forks tire shop was injured early Monday when he was run over by a trailer he was working on, according to police. The Grand Forks Police Department, Grand Forks Fire Department and an Altru Health Systems ambulance were called to Big Jim’s Tire Service on Gateway Drive just after 7 a.m. in response to an accident.
NEW YORK—A Grand Forks native who led Buffalo Wild Wings for more than 20 years is retiring amid a shakeup in the board's leadership and pushback from an activist hedge fund investor. Sally Smith, a University of North Dakota graduate from 1979, announced Friday she will step down as the national restaurant chains president and CEO at the end of the year or "until such time as a successor has been named."
STREETER, N.D. — The Stutsman County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body found in a car Saturday morning, May 27, after a fire burned the vehicle at a rural residence near Streeter. Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser said there is an ongoing investigation into the body and the cause of the fire, which probably happened sometime early Saturday morning. The residence where the car and body were found is located 6 miles northwest of Streeter on 50th Avenue Southeast.
MOORHEAD, Minn. — A 43-year-old Moorhead man was arrested after two teens reported being beaten a shovel and brick early Monday, May 29. Police arrested Jerome Walker, who was booked into jail on suspicion of two second-degree assault charges. Officers were dispatched for an assault report at 1:39 a.m. in south Moorhead. According to a news release, officers stopped one vehicle and the occupants — including Walker — said they had been at the location of the assault. At the scene, officers found male victims ages 18 and 16.
