PONTIAC, Mich. -- An online retailer specializing in folders and binders said Friday that it will reject all orders from South Dakota after the Supreme Court ruling allowing businesses to collect sales taxes from online transactions. Company Folders, based in Pontiac, said the sales tax requirement of more than $100,000 in annual sales or 200 annual transactions from South Dakota is problematic.
GRAND FORKS -- A 27-year-old Grand Forks man was arrested Tuesday after a search warrant uncovered prohibited images in the home. Nicholas A. Bartholome, 27, could face charges of possession of certain materials prohibited, a Class C felony, police said June 19. The Grand Forks Police Department and the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at the residence in support of an investigation into the possession of child pornography, according a police news release.
BROOKINGS, S.D.—South Dakota State football coach John Stiegelmeier, who finished his 21st campaign with the Jackrabbits, faces a March 6 court appearance following his arrest for DUI in late January. The 61-year-old coach was arrested Saturday, Jan. 27, after his vehicle was stuck in a ditch and discovered by Brookings police at 11:30 p.m.
WATERTOWN, S.D. -- A famed South Dakota artist died Sunday and while Terry Redlin wasn't able to put a brush to canvas since his retirement nearly a decade ago, his legacy remains strong in homes throughout the nation. Redlin, 78, a nature and Americana artist, died here after a nine-year battle with dementia. As Julie Ranum reflected on Redlin's life on Monday, she said unveiling a new print at the Redlin Art Center was one of her favorite moments.
