2 oil spills reported in McKenzie, Williams

Oil well sites in Williams and McKenzie counties reported oil spills Wednesday.
A site operated by Zavanna LLC about 8 miles east of Williston released approximately 300 barrels, some of which was sprayed onto agricultural land, according to initial reports from the North Dakota Department of Health. Zavanna recovered 295 barrels.
The second site, owned by Newfield Production Co., released 35 barrels. Some sprayed off location to a small, frozen pond, according to the release. The oil well is 20 miles northeast of Watford City.
The oil spray near Watford City impacted approximately 2 acres of land. About 20 barrels were recovered.
