$200K for Hazmat given for emergency preparedness in ND

WASHINGTON - North Dakota’s Republican senator said Thursday that North Dakota communities will get almost $200,000 in funding for emergency preparedness, according to a release.
Sen. John Hoeven announced the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has awarded $191,512 in grants to train local first responders and help officials plan for potential hazmat transportation incidents.
“We’ve been working closely with (the Department of Transportation) as well as industry and community leaders to improve the safety of transportation in our communities,” Hoeven stated in a release. “These funds will support the work we’ve done by helping state and local leaders develop and improve their emergency plans, preparing our emergency responders to protect our residents and themselves when accidents occur.”
