255 barrels of produced water spills in Billings County
FRYBURG-A produced water tank leak at an oil well site operated by Denbury Onshore in Billings County resulted in a 255 barrels spilled, the North Dakota Department of Health stated Monday in a news release.
Produced water is a byproduct of oil and gas extraction. The spill occurred on Friday about 5 miles southwest of Fryburg. Estimates indicate an estimated 220 barrels of produced water has been recovered. No surface water has been impacted.
Personnel from the North Dakota Oil and Gas Division and the Department of Health are investigating the incident. NDDoH personnel will continue to monitor the investigation.
