If you are looking for a new place to eat or enjoy an evening in Dickinson, the Astoria Hotel and Event Center has added a restaurant and bar to their list of amenities.

"I want to start putting a light on this place because it's either people don't quite know what we have to offer or people don't even know about us," said Kelly Heimbach, who works in sales at the hotel and event center.

The restaurant opened in late December but held a grand opening Thursday, April 12.

They offer a fully stocked bar along with a menu made by head chef Juan De Dios. They are open from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. The restaurant has a separate entrance for patrons who prefer not to walk through the hotel.

"We have nice booth seating with high tops and high-end finishes that match and reflect the hotel and it is a gorgeous addition to what we already have," said Heimbach.

The restaurant also offers guests an area for playing pool, blackjack and pull tabs.

Heimbach believes it is something new for the community and is "nice and simple".

The restaurant also offers full-service onsite and offsite catering to Dickinson. Catering customers can design their own menu based on options given by the restaurant.

Heimbach said she thought the greatest benefit was "to be able to have it all in one and not have to leave the property, you can just stay here and enjoy yourselves."

The restaurant is still a work in progress with setting regular hours and "tweaking a few small areas," said Heimbach.

De Dios, the head chef of the restaurant, said he would like to build his own name for himself because he has always worked under someone else.

"I can cook a little bit of everything including Italian, American, Spanish and Chinese," De Dios said. "I got great food and if I wouldn't eat it, I wouldn't serve it."

The Astoria Hotel and Event Center is creating social media sites on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat which will showcase drink specials and featured foods.
