Another Park Co. herd in Wyoming quarantined

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) -- Another cattle herd in Park County has been quarantined because it has been found to possibly have the brucellosis livestock disease.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) -- Another cattle herd in Park County has been quarantined because it has been found to possibly have the brucellosis livestock disease.

It is the third livestock herd in Park County to be quarantined.

Assistant State Veterinarian Bob Meyer says the latest herd is in the vicinity of the other two quarantined herds and infected elk are the suspected cause in all three cases.

The state tested more than 565 adult cattle in the newest herd after a cow tested positive at a Montana auction market. Preliminary tests show four additional cattle from the herd also may have the disease.

Late last year a herd of cattle and a herd of bison in Park County were placed under quarantine after brucellosis was found in some of their animals.
