WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) -- Officials in a northwest North Dakota county have extended a moratorium on "man camps" in the area.

The Williams County Commission voted 3-2 on Friday to extend the moratorium indefinitely on new applications for temporary housing. Temporary housing has sprung up across the country to accommodate the influx of oil patch workers.

The commission placed a six-month moratorium on new temporary housing last year.

Commissioners say the influx of new workers have placed a strain on the roadways and water and sewer systems.

Mountrail and Dunn counties also have declared moratoriums on man camps.
