ALEXANDER - A pipeline has leaked approximately 250 barrels of oil in McKenzie County.
The leak occurred when the pipeline, owned by Belle Fourche Pipeline Co., was struck by equipment during excavation. The oil leak has been stopped and was mostly confined to the excavated area. The spill has not impacted any waterway and is not a threat to public health at this time, according to a news release.
The North Dakota Department of Health has been notified of a pipeline leak, which occurred 18 miles south of Alexander.
The health department and the U.S. Forest Service are will be providing g oversight of the cleanup, which was underway on Friday.
