WILLISTON (AP) -- Most residents of a so-called "tent city" that sprung up in a Williston park have moved out, a month before a city-set deadline.
The temporary housing area at Davidson Park developed because of a housing shortage caused by the region's oil boom. City officials decided to close the park to camping on Nov. 1 because of complaints about alcohol use and other problems.
Parks and Recreation Director Darin Krueger tells the Williston Herald that with campers moving out since the Sept. 8 decision, the park has become quieter and complaints to police have decreased.
