We now know what the 'b' in IHOb, formerly IHOP, means—and everyone is confused

GLENDALE, Calif.—America: you can officialy rest easy tonight.

Nationwide restaurant chain IHOP, now known as IHOb, revealed on its social media pages Monday morning, June 11, what the "b" in their new name stands for.

The internet was buzzing last week after then-IHOP announced on Monday, June 4, that the restaurant would be making a dramatic change to their infamous brand by flipping the "p" in their logo to a "b."

A week later, IHOb announced that the "b" in their new name stands for "burgers." The implementation of the logo has already been seen on the restaurants in-store menu's. According to a company statement, the name and logo change is only for the time being, indicating that the change may be nothing more than a temporary marketing ploy.

The risky switch from flapjacks to burgers comes after Dine Grand Global, the parent company of IHOP and Applebee's, saw a 1.9 percent decline in sales in its most recent fiscal year, reports show.

"Everyone knows that IHOP makes world-famous pancakes, so we felt like the best way to convince them that we are as serious about our new line of Ultimate Steakburgers as we are about our pancakes was to change our name to IHOb," said Brad Haley, Chief Marketing Officer for IHOb restaurants.

IHOb's revamped menu features seven different specialty steakburgers: The Jalepeno Kick, Cowboy BBQ, Classic with Bacon, Mega Monster, Mushroom & Swiss, Big Brunch and The Classic.

Reaction to the name change on social media ranges from excitement and anticipation to confused and baffled.
