BISMARCK - Three unlicensed contractors in North Dakota have been banned from doing any further business in the state, the North Dakota Attorney General's office said.

Timothy Jacobson of Fairmount, Tyler Giles of Fargo and Patrick Peltier of Bottineau were issued cease and desist orders for violating the state's consumer fraud and contractor licensing laws, the office said Thursday, Jan. 3.

The attorney general's office said all three unlicensed contractors took thousands of dollars in advance payments from homeowners but failed to do any work. After complaints from homeowners, consumer protection investigators made initial contact with them but all three ignored communications with the attorney general's office.

Criminal charges are pending against Jacobson in both Barnes and Cass counties relating to his unlicensed contracting activity, the attorney general's office said. A 2018 civil judgment obtained against Tyler Giles in Cass County for over $6,000 remains unpaid.
