WILLISTON - A Boise, Idaho, man who had been living in Williston for six months is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds in Minot's Trinity Hospital.

Williston police identified the man shot early Thursday near a Williston apartment building as Kenneth John Moore Jr., 26.

No arrests have been made, but police say this is an isolated incident and they don't believe the public is in danger, said Detective Cory Collings.

Police received a report of a medical assist at 1:10 a.m. Thursday in the area of 900 E. Highland Drive, which is near Williston State College.

The shooting occurred when Moore and a male acquaintance were sitting in a car outside the building, Collings said. The acquaintance was not hurt and he did not see the shooter, Collings said. Moore was on the passenger side and was halfway out of the car when responders arrived, Collings said.

The vehicle is registered to a female acquaintance of Moore who was at a local bar waiting to be picked up, Collings said.

Investigators are following up on multiple leads and are getting assistance from other area agencies, including the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Northwest Narcotics Task Force and the Williams County Sheriff's Office.

Moore's condition was not immediately available.
