FARGO — Last season the Dickinson Midgets broke a five-year dry spell of failing to reach postseason play, ending their season in the semifinals. On Friday, Dickinson High School would see themselves compete in the state playoffs, in back-to-back years, led by their 13 seniors.
Over 30 of the top athletic students received recognition for their hard work throughout the season, garnering Western Dakota Association awards.
JAMESTOWN — Dickinson nearly collected the triple crown after winning their regular season and the Western Dakota Association postseason tournament, but would fall short in their final game of the season at the NDHSAA state championship.
The Midgets return to the state championship in back-to-back years after downing Jamestown 5-4.

JAMESTOWN — It wasn't the smoothest of wins from the Midgets, but they live to fight another day at The North Dakota High School Athletic Association baseball state tournament.
The Midgets had a strong start to the state tourney and are one of four western teams continuing to semifinals.
"That's one thing with our team is that they don't give up all the way to the last inning. I am so thankful as a coach to have a good team,” said Amanda Mickey.
For a third year in a row Dickinson will be participating at state, if the season cancellation of 2020 is taken into consideration.
“Bats just didn't go to work like they should,” said Pete Dobitz.
“We are ready to go right now and we all want it just as bad,” Berg said. “I think we are going to come in every game the rest of the year wanting everything.”

DICKINSON — The Midgets took on the no. 1 seed Minot Magicians May 20 at the West River Community Center tennis courts in a series of six singles and three doubles matches. The girls put up a tough fight but ultimately fell short against the Minot Magicians, taking their region record to 4-4 and their overall record to 7-6.
Dickinson rides a two game win streak and are playing their best tennis going into postseason tourney starting next week.
