DICKINSON – Dickinson residents can enjoy the great outdoors and stay active by joining the local softball league, which kicks off in mid-May. The league is USA Softball sanctioned and offers competitive games while also allowing local rule adaptations for a more recreational atmosphere. Registrations are currently open until Thursday, April 6, with the season running from May 15 to Aug. 7.
Players must be aged 17 by the end of 2023, and those 16 or 17 must have permission from their parent, who have to sign on the back side of the USA roster and on the signature of the USA Roster form.
USA Softball sanctioned umpires will preside over the games, following USA Softball rules — allowing for a competitive atmosphere — yet with local league rule adaptations permitted for a more-recreational playing environment. Participants can choose from women-only, men-only or co-ed divisions, with games held at the Gress Softball Complex, located on 8th Avenue SW in Dickinson, on Wednesdays.
The fees are $55 per player and sponsorship opportunities are available for $215. For the co-ed league, the fees are $42 per player and $165 for sponsorship.
People also can look forward to four upcoming local tournaments, with the Miller Lite Softball Tournament on July 8-9, the Men’s Rec 2 West State Softball Tournament from Aug.5-6, the Men’s Rec 4 West State Softball Tournament Aug. 19-20 and the Last Chance Softball Tournament on Aug. 26.
