Donners Celebrate 60th “Diamond” Anniversary

Doug & Kathy Donner were happily wed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Reeder on June 23rd, 1962. The bride wore a beautiful gown that she borrowed from her sister Carol (who had gotten married just three weeks earlier!) The dashing groom carried his bride away from the church in a blue 1958 Plymouth Fury with a white hard top. Someone had written “Just Married” on the white hard top in black shoe polish, where it would remain forever. (Because you can’t remove black shoe polish from a white hard top.)  The couple took it in stride, as they have all the ups and downs that have come their way in the past 6 decades. Only 1% of married couples make it to their 60th Anniversary. That’s 21,916 days of caring and compromise. But anyone who knows this fun pair are not surprised. Whether the crops come in or the market is up or down- in good health or heartbreaking loss, their devotion to each other and their sense of humor have been an inspiration to family and friends alike. We love you, and we wish you many more years together -  forever enjoying that  “just married” feeling.
