BREAKING: Emergency water break in Dickinson

Power of 100 Women presents $19,100 to Dickinson Police

The Power of 100 Women Dickinson recently voted to donate money to the Dickinson Police Department’s K-9 program, the organization announced in a press release.

While the organization will give the police department around $19,000, other donations coming in from Power of 100 Women members will increase the amount to well over $20,000, the press release said.

The Dickinson Police Department’s K-9 Niko passed away suddenly in October of 2017 from an unexpected medical issue. The demand for the third K-9 Team was high and community needs supported the replacement of this team. Fundraising started in December 2017.

The department recently introduced K-9 Kalo at Dickinson city commission meeting. K-9 Kalo is an all-black German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix, imported from Slovakia. Kalo and Officer Peters will endure the entire training experience from start to finish, allowing the team to become as proficient and as successful as possible in the process.

Power of 100 Women Dickinson is a dedicated group of local women supporting local

charitable organizations. Meetings are held on a quarterly basis to select a charity to support with their $100 donations. Women interested in becoming a member can contact Shirley Dukart at Home and Land Company or Irene Schafer at the Pennysaver.
