Heitkamp honors fallen Vietnam War soldiers on Senate floor
WASHINGTON -- North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp read the names of North Dakotans who lost their lives in the Vietnam War on the U.S. Senate floor Friday.
Nearly 200 North Dakotans died in the war and the Democrat read the names of 16, including area natives Norbert Froehlich, of Belfield, and Lowell Hardmeyer, of Mott.
“We must always remember that every one of these men has a story as we recognize and honor the selfless sacrifices each made,” Heitkamp said.
The speech is part of a series Heitkamp began giving in March honoring North Dakota servicemembers who died in Vietnam.
