The Dickinson Police Department is asking the public for the assistance in locating a runaway juvenile who went missing from her Dickinson home.

According to police, the Dickinson Police Department does not consider any report of a missing person to be routine and assumes that the missing person is in need of immediate assistance until an investigation reveals otherwise.

The investigation quickly became a search for a runaway after it was determined that Sophia Whiteowl, 16, of Dickinson, left her resident on Carlson Street by foot in an unknown direction and had not returned.

Police listed the juvenile as a runaway and released identifying information. Based on the report, Whiteowl is approximately 5-foot-5-inches and around 185 lbs, has a dark complexion with brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair. She is reported to often keep her hair worn up in a bun or ponytail, which could make it appear shorter. Whiteowl has a nose piercing and a tattoo of a raven on her right shoulder. She was last seen wearing a light grey hoodie with black shorts.

Authorities confirmed that Whiteowl has contacts in Watford City, N.D. and are asking those around that city to please be on the lookout for the 16-year-old.

Authorities urge anyone with any information regarding this situation to please come forward by calling the DPD at 701-456-7759 or their local police department. The DPD also reminds the public they can submit anonymous information through the DPD Facebook page, through , or by using the free Badlands Crime Stoppers app on their phone which can be found in the app store on their mobile device.
