With windy gusts on Wednesday, fire officials and weather meteorologists advise southwestern North Dakotans of the critical fire weather conditions especially with the recent grass fire in Dunn County.
As drought conditions linger into the first weeks of the 2021 fall season in southwestern North Dakota, fires continue to an issue for local first responders. On Thursday, West Dunn Fire Rescue responded to a fire resulting from hay bales.
A fire burning near Manning has been contained at 50% as of 7 p.m. Friday, April 30, and all Manning residents that evacuated can now return to their homes, according to West Dunn Fire Chief Ryan Hauck.
Several fire departments from around southwest North Dakota paid their respects for West Dunn Fire Rescue firefighter Aaron Benz at his funeral Monday in Dickinson. A train of first responders from Dunn County, City of Dickinson, Williston and more were also present to show their brotherhood.
