The new business which opened Jan. 4, is located at 352 1st St. E. Suite C and offers premium CBD oils, gummies, creams and vapes. Avila's personal mission is to be a source to an alternative way to relaxation from the stresses of life and relief from aches and pains.
“My main objective is to offer help because the issue I see here in Dickinson is a lot of people are suffering from anxiety and depression, especially right now when there are not a lot of things to do,” said Avila.
Avila and her family came to Dickinson from Bakersfield, Cali. but have been in Dickinson for eight years now. Previously she was working at Edgewood Hawks Point, but has now decided to follow her entrepreneurial calling in launching this business endeavor.
“This comes from my heart, I started using CBD three years ago to treat depression and I loved the benefits it gave me. It is the reason why I wanted to go through with this,” Avila said. “I realized there was a need, but it wasn't until this year I decided I had to go for it. I knew I would keep postponing if I didn't.”
The meaning behind the business name, Acacia, has a deep meaning for Avila.
“I knew I wanted to have this business to help others, but I wasn't sure until one day I was praying and reading my bible when God showed me that Acacia was the name I would put to my businesses,” she recalled. “It is a strong tree they used to build furniture with during biblical times.”
Avila also spent time pondering the decorations and how she wanted the store setup.
“Before I started decorating and putting all this stuff in place I knew I wanted people to feel something different when they walked in … I want them to feel that they are coming to a place of peace, where it's kind of ‘homey,’ where they don't feel pressure to buy … I don't want a commercialize feeling,” She said. “Yesterday, a woman came in to learn about the products and she told me that she felt peaceful and relaxed. It feels great to help people, knowing that they are happy with the product and that they are doing it for their health.”
Acacia Organic also offers products for pets such as cat oils, dog oils and treats — a novel new venture in the CBD industry. The store is pet friendly and dog treats samples are available for anyone who comes by with their canine or feline companion.
“I started using it on my dog because she was too much,” Avila said. “I can see the difference in her behavior. She is active, but not wild.”
Avila is ready to take on 2021 with great stride and hopes to bring more variety CBD products to her store in the near future. She thanked the support of her family and expressed her gratitude to her bank, Dacotah Bank, who has been helping and “have been a blessing” to her.
“I am really looking forward to this year, I think great things are to come from not just me but for a lot of people,” she said. “I'm giving it my all this year and I am not looking back on 2020.”
Acacia Organic is opened Monday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm.
