On Wednesday, Sen. John Hoeven announced economic relief for more North Dakota airports. Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport will be receiving over $1 million.

Hoeven, a member of the Senate transportation, housing and urban development appropriations committee, notified the public of the financial relief that will aid 11 additional airports in the state. The funding will come from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), after the passing of the Consolidated Appropriations Act by Congress in December of last year. FAA is the largest modern transportation agency that is also a governmental body of the United States. They have the faculty to regulate all aspects of civil aviation.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 is a $2.3 trillion spending bill that combines $900 billion of stimulus relief for the coronavirus pandemic with a $1.4 trillion omnibus spending bill for a variety of other purposes.

The funds will be used to offset the increased cost to clean and sanitize local airports to promote a healthy and safe traveling environment while combating the spread of coronavirus and other pathogens.

“This funding will provide economic relief for our airports, and promote the health and safety of airport employees and individuals traveling,” said Hoeven.
