For some beer enthusiasts, a good beer must first be examined, described and lastly tasted. De Porres Barber House of Barbering & Lounge is giving novices and experts alike a chance to try one of North Dakota’s newest and unique breweries, Brockopp Brewing.
The Tap Takeover will be 5 p.m., this Saturday, April 10. Owner and operator of the Brockopp Brewery, Scott Brockopp, will be there with his wife. They will be there “drinking a good beer and talking to people.”
Brockopp Brewing is based out of Valley City, North Dakota and opened just over a year ago, January 22, 2020. Scott Brockopp and his wife mainly run the brewery on their own with the addition of a few friends.
“Since we opened a little over a year ago, we are still working our day jobs so we don't get very much of a chance to get out so we are looking forward to getting out to the other end of the state and meet a few people,” Brockopp said. “Before we opened there has never been a brewery here, so we do a lot of educating and answer a lot of questions … I started home brewing a little over ten year ago … then I really fell in love with not just drinking the beer but the whole process of making it.”
Brockopp Brewing is bringing with them four different styles of beers for the Tap Takeover.
The four are NuHR1, a Klosch; KAFFeh, a brown coffee ale; Sussex, an extra special bitter beer and their New England IPA.
This is the first time they are doing an event like this, they were originally contacted by Patrick . They will also be bringing merchandise items to be won during trivia at 6 p.m. The couple are very grateful for the support they have had from their community and are excited to meet Dickinson’s community.
“We are trying to bring in some of these fun craft beers from all over North Dakota. We have (invited) probably seven or eight or these brewery that don't distribute their beers and we have had pretty good luck,” De Porres’s Lounge manager Patrick Ahmann said.
Every two week, De Porres Barber House of Barbering & Lounge have events. On Thursday April, 22 they will have a Tap Takeover by DCR Brewery, based out of Fargo, North Dakota.
