REGULAR MEETING OF THE KILLDEER CITY COM

REGULAR MEETING OF THE KILLDEER CITY COMMISSION December 5th, 2022 Commission President Joel Spethman called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM. Commissioner’s present were Kelly Summerfield, Joe Hurt, and Greg Nordsven. Not present was Commissioner Logan Wallace. Ryan Hauck, Matt Rodke, Cameron Deperalta, Florine Lazorenko, Dion Steinley, Terrald Bang (5:11 PM), and Carie Boster were also present with Nate Bouray present via conference call. Commission President Joel Spethman asked for the Commission and audience to join in the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioner Nordsven moved to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Commissioner Summerfield. The consent agenda consisted of the minutes of the November 21st, 2022 regular meeting, minutes of the November 28, 2022 special meeting, bills, and pledged securities for First International Bank. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Florine Lazorenko with the Dunn County Fair Association updated the Commission about the upcoming 2023 Dunn County Fair currently scheduled for July 7-9, 2023 and the events/attractions currently scheduled for the fair. Commissioner Logan Wallace entered at 5:17 PM. West Dunn Fire Department Chief Ryan Hauck discussed with the Commission the preliminary layout and site surveys provided for the proposed new fire hall station at the old rodeo grounds. Fire Chief Hauck and the Commission discussed various items and options regarding the proposed new fire hall station. Commissioner Hurt made the motion to table discussion on the new fire hall station, seconded by Commissioner Summerfield. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Commissioner Wallace made the motion to table Ordinance 2022-009, seconded by Commissioner Hurt. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Commissioner Hurt made the motion to approve payment of $6,000 to the Killdeer Public School for July 2022-December 2022 Killdeer Public Library rented library space, seconded by Commissioner Wallace. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Interim Police Chief Dion Steinley discussed various PD items with the Commission. Commissioner Summerfield made the motion to approve the Interim Police Chief Position for Interim Police Chief Steinley for 3 months, seconded by Commissioner Wallace. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Commissioner Nordsven made the motion to approve salary schedule step 10 for Interim Police Chief Steinley, seconded by Commissioner Hurt. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Commissioner Wallace made the motion to approve having the Police Department residency in city limits requirement move to a case-by-case basis, seconded by Commissioner Nordsven. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Commissioner Wallace made the motion to add a Sergeant position to the Police Department, seconded by Commissioner Summerfield. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Public Works Superintendent Cameron Deperalta updated the Commission on the snow plow purchase from Swanston Equipment. Commissioner Nordsven made the motion to approve the compensatory time payout to Eric Braathen, seconded by Commissioner Hurt. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Commissioner Summerfield made the motion to approve City Attorney Nate Bouray to start the process of revising/redoing Ordinance 2022-008, seconded by Commissioner Hurt. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C Having no further business, Commissioner Wallace moved to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner Hurt. All voted aye on a roll call vote. M/C. The meeting was adjourned at 5:58 P.M.
